Nantahala, Ocoee, Chattooga

River: Nantahala
Driving time to put in from Huntington Hall B&B: 25 minutes East
Restrictions: Must be 60 lbs., Federal law with no exceptions
Level of difficulty: Class I-III rapids
Trip duration:  about 2.5 hours on water
Cost per person guided: $25-$31
Description:
A great family river and excellent for the first-timer. Ample time to float and relax on this exciting 8 mile trip.  A guided trip is well worth the few extra dollars, and you can avoid spending your day stuck on rocks! River: Ocoee
Driving time to put in from Huntington Hall B&B: 25 minutes West
Restrictions: 12 yrs. old
Level of difficulty: Class II-IV rapids
Trip duration: about 2.5 hours on water
Cost per person guided: $38-$45
Description:
Site of the 1996 Olympic Canoe & Kayak Venue. A rollercoaster ride from the start to finish. Huge waves and large drops highlight your trip. A guide is required and no experience is necessary. New in 1998, raft the upper Ocoee and paddle the actual Olympic course. return to top of page


River: Chattooga Section III & IV
Driving time to put in from Huntington Hall B&B: 90 minutes South East
Restrictions: 13 yrs. old
Level of difficulty: strenuous class II-V rapids
Trip duration: about 5 hours on water each section
Cost per person guided: $45-$98
Description:
This is the one they filmed Deliverance on folks! Section III is a little more foregiving, but section IV is one of the Southeast's ultimate runs. The Chattooga has been designated a National Wild & Scenic River and water levels vary on a daily basis. Experience is recommended and you must be able to hike in and out of the quarter mile protected corridor. return to top of page
